FENICE project coordinator, Claudio Mingazzini, will participate at the 8th International Conference of Engineering Against Failure (ICEAF), 22–25 June 2025, Kalamata, Greece, to present research results obtained in the project about the resistance of Fibre Metal Laminates (FML) for electric vehicle battery boxes under realistic operating conditions. The presentation will focus on the mechanical durability, fire resistance, and corrosion behaviour of FML structures when exposed to expected service environments, including aggressive conditions such as salt spray. By combining experimental results and material design considerations developed within the FENICE project, the work highlights the suitability of advanced FML for safe, lightweight, and long-lasting battery enclosures, contributing to improved reliability and sustainability of next-generation electric vehicles.
